Youngest Ramsay medical director a finalist in Perth 40 Under 40 Awards
Hollywood Private Hospital's Director of Medical Services Dr Daniel Heredia was one of three finalists in the Perth 40 Under 40 Awards. The awards, held at Crown Perth in March, recognised outstanding business men and women who show personal determination and commercial drive.
Not only is Daniel the youngest person ever appointed to the role at Hollywood, he is also the youngest medical director in Ramsay Health Care's 117 hospitals.
In spite of humble beginnings and some serious health setbacks during young adulthood, Daniel completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours, a MBA with distinction as well as a Diploma of Public Health.
"I knew quite early on that I enjoyed medicine and the clinical aspects but I really liked the business side as well." said Dr Heredia.
At age 26, Daniel was the youngest medical advisor to Medicare and oversaw a total restructure of Medicare's Tasmanian operations.
In 2011, Daniel was tasked with improving labour costs at the Hollywood Private Hospital and managed to achieve not only a 20% improvement on medical costs expenditure, but also improvement in service delivery, staff satisfaction and morale.
Daniel was nominated by Peter Mott of the Australian Institute of Management WA.
