Hollywood employees donate blood to save lives
Jun 16, 2017
Hollywood Private Hospital (Hollywood) employees are going the extra mile to help save lives by supporting Red25, Australian Red Cross Blood Service’s social responsibility program.
Red25 encourages people to give blood to ensure 25% of Australia’s blood donations are secured throughout the year. Achieving this figure is important as one in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime, yet only one in 30 donates.
The Australian Red Cross Blood Service is also running a Health Services Blood Challenge which commenced in April and concludes on 30 June. During this period, health industry workers from around the country are joining Red25 to see which group can donate the most blood, plasma and platelets.
Hollywood Chief Executive Officer, Peter Mott, said "Being at the forefront of patient care, our employees understand and see firsthand the importance of blood donations."
"This is a wonderful opportunity for us to assist Australian Red Cross Blood Service and make a much needed contribution to the community. The participation of our employees outside work hours is a reflection of their passion for helping others."
"Ramsay Health Care employees have already donated more than 50 times which has the potential to save 153 lives. This is a fantastic result so far and I’m looking forward to seeing the final tally at the end of the Challenge."
