Hollywood enjoys a cuppa for a cause

May 24, 2012

In support of Cancer Council Australia’s most popular fundraising event, Hollywood Private Hospital hosted a Biggest Morning Tea on Thursday 24 May 2012.

Hollywood’s Biggest Morning Tea was conveniently hosted in two separate locations of the hospital where guests enjoyed, for just a gold coin donation, a cuppa and plate of food.

Staff, volunteers, patients and hospital visitors enjoyed an assortment of baked goods while digging deep and raising $1407.45 for the worthy cause.

Helen Morrell, Volunteer Services Manager at Hollywood Private Hospital, said this fundraising initiative is a great event for the Hospital to be associated with as most people know someone who has been affected by cancer and any donation can make a huge difference.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is a fantastic community event allowing opportunity for involvement from a wide variety of people across Australia. Enjoying part of the morning with friends and colleagues, eating delicious homemade goods and drinking a cuppa is an easy way to support fundraising for cancer research.

“Our volunteers also raffled a number of gourmet hampers which raised a significant amount of money,” said Helen.

Nola Cruickshank, Director of Clinical Services at Hollywood said that Cancer Council fundraising is important to Hollywood as the hospital provides a range of cancer related services.

“At Hollywood we have comprehensive cancer services including oncology, haematology and palliative care. We also have a Chemotherapy day unit dedicated to cancer patients so we are proud to support Cancer Council initiatives like Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day and Pink Ribbon Day that contribute to cancer research, prevention, education and support services,” said Ms Cruickshank.
