Hollywood showcases employees’ artistic talents
Jul 14, 2017
Photos taken by Hollywood Private Hospital employees as part of a staff photography competition are being displayed in the hospital’s corridors for members of the community to enjoy.
Held for the first time, the competition was open to employees from all wards and departments and the subject matter was ‘What You Love about Western Australia’.
The calibre of the 48 entries was incredibly high and Hollywood’s Executive team members had the difficult task of selecting the winners.
First place was awarded to Exercise Physiologist, Taryn Seaby, for her image ‘Ripe for the Taking’. The photo beautifully captures her family’s wheat crop during harvest time.
Commenting on her winning entry, Taryn said "I care for many patients from the country and I thought it might be nice for them to see a photo that reminds them of home. I hope the image helps to bring them a sense of comfort."
Second and third place were awarded to Human Resources Manager, Samantha Hogan, and Research Administrative Officer, Carolyn Konzewitsch, respectively. Due to the outstanding nature of the entries, a number of honourable mentions were also presented.
Hollywood Chief Executive Officer, Peter Mott, added "Researchers are learning more about the way in which works of art are helping patients and their families with the healing process. We’re pleased to be able to showcase stunning images which benefit patients and perfectly depict our State from the Kimberley to the Great Southern."
