New cardiothoracic service at Hollywood brings 25 years of experience to WA

Oct 15, 2020

Hollywood Private Hospital has launched a new cardiothoracic service and will now be able to perform life-saving bypass and valve replacement surgery as a new multi-million-dollar, purpose-built theatre is unveiled.

Hollywood will have Ramsay Health Care’s 25 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery behind it when the new service launches in October.

Hollywood Private Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Peter Mott, said this is the latest service that moves Hollywood towards delivering a comprehensive facility for heart health, which will be completed when the new emergency department opens next year.

“The new theatre will provide a vital service to those who present at the emergency department with symptoms and are then referred to a cardiothoracic surgeon,” Mr Mott said.

“Patients will also be offered a number of other stand-out services at Hollywood, including Ramsay Connect and Ramsay Health Plus to ensure the best standard of support, post surgery.”

The state of the art facility will feature the latest technology, including the HemoSphere advanced cardiac monitoring system and the Medistim MiraQ Cardiac – an advanced ultrasound device that is used during surgery. The new cardiothoracic service will also see the use of ClotPro which rapidly analyses patients’ blood to ensure they receive the best treatment in the timeliest fashion.

This exciting new service for Hollywood will mean patients from around the state can be treated for all their cardiac needs at one place.

This addition to Hollywood will undoubtedly give patients piece of mind that they are receiving the best care possible, with 9 Ramsay Health Care hospitals across the country already offering the same service. Hollywood will also participate in the WA Cardiac Outcomes Registry once its completed, which will further enhance its focus on patient outcomes.
