Ground-breaking global trials showcased at Hollywood Private Hospital during research month

Hollywood Private Hospital’s significant contribution to high profile international trials and medical research will be showcased in Perth this month.

September is Ramsay Research Month, a time to reflect on the 291 clinical trials and 1000 research projects underway across Ramsay Health Care’s network.

The aim of Ramsay Research Month is to share knowledge, highlight innovations in health care and to recognise the staff working hard to improve patient outcomes through evidence-based change.

Hollywood Private Hospital CEO, Andrew Tome, said research to advance clinical practice is a priority at the facility.

“We actively encourage and support clinical research as part of our role as a private teaching hospital,” Mr Tome said.

“Significant medical research is being undertaken in many areas such as cardiology, vascular surgery, mental health, cancer, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and nuclear medicine.

“We are investing heavily in medical research and are well placed to offer more novel therapies in the future.”

There are 47 clinical trials underway at Hollywood, including several high-profile international clinical trials.

Trials underway with Hollywood’s Clinical Trials Unit include:

• Lymphoma
• Multiple myeloma
• Prostate cancer
• Pancreatic cancer
• Colorectal cancer
• Lung cancer

There are also more than 50 active research projects at Hollywood, such as a smoking cessation program for patients and nurse-led studies into falls and care of frail patients in hospital.

The Hollywood Private Hospital Research Foundation supports research to help improve medical care and the health of the community served by Hollywood.

Throughout Ramsay Research Month, Ramsay will host a series of professional webinars and will share educational videos.
