Hollywood Private Hospital staff celebrate Emergency Department one-year milestone

Nov 08, 2022

Hollywood Private Hospital Emergency Department (ED) staff enjoyed lunch, dinner, cupcakes and flowers to mark the one-year anniversary of the service on November 1.

The celebrations extended to the Martin O’Meara Ward above, which also opened one year ago.

The $67 million ED development features six levels and three wards. The ED itself has 13 patient bays (including an isolation room), a triage assessment room, a resuscitation room and a spacious waiting lounge area.

Chief Executive Officer Andrew Tome said the ED was a significant investment by Ramsay Health Care.

“The opening of the ED and O’Meara Ward, with its 30 inpatient beds, was timely due to an increased demand for hospital services throughout WA,” Mr Tome said.

“Our ED provides choice for people living north of the river - with thousands of private patients using the service in the past year.”

Director of Medical Services John Maxwell said the ED provided patients with ease of access to the many medical, surgical and support services at the Hollywood campus.

“For example, patients presenting to the ED with cardiac issues have access to cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac rehabilitation through Ramsay Health Plus,” Dr Maxwell said.
