Hollywood Private Hospital officially opens Anne Leach Wing

Today, the Hon Dr Kim Hames MLA, Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Tourism will officially open the Anne Leach Wing at Hollywood Private Hospital (Hollywood) comprising six additional state-of-the-art operating theatres, three new 30 bed wards -all with single rooms- and a new kitchen.
Mrs Anne Leach was a nurse with the Australian Army who served overseas and has had a long association with Hollywood which commenced during World War II and continues to the present day.
“In a special year in which we commemorate 100 years of ANZAC, it’s an appropriate time for Hollywood to pay tribute to Mrs Leach and her contribution and service to the community.” said Peter Mott, Chief Executive Officer, Hollywood Private Hospital.
The Anne Leach Wing, combined with a 30 bed expansion of The Hollywood Clinic in mid-2014, reflects an investment in excess of $70M in major infrastructure developments at Hollywood by Ramsay Health Care.
The completion of this development will increase the number of operating theatres to 16 and with 750 licensed beds will cement Hollywood’s position as the State’s largest private hospital based on bed numbers.
Mrs Anne Leach FNM, OAM will join the Hon Dr Kim Hames MLA, Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Tourism and Peter Mott, Hollywood Chief Executive Officer along with David Russell-Weisz, Director General Department of Health, Michael Siddle, Chairman Ramsay Health Care, Chris Rex Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ramsay Health Care, Danny Sims, Chief Executive Officer, Ramsay Australia, and other dignitaries.
As a result of this expansion, Hollywood is now able to provide care for over 70,000 patients and perform over 45,000 procedures each year in the hospital’s operating suites, gastroenterology unit, cardiac catheter laboratory and ECT suite.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our managers and staff who were involved in all aspects of the project whether it be the recruitment, procurement, engineering support or the commissioning of the hospital; it has been an amazing team effort” he said.
Official Launch Event
- Peter Mott, Chief Executive Officer at Hollywood Private Hospital will host the official launch of the Anne Leach Wing to be held at 3pm on Thursday, 26 November in the main foyer of Hollywood Private Hospital.
- The wing will be officially opened by the Hon Dr Kim Hames MLA, Deputy Premier; Minister for Health; Tourism.

About Anne Leach
Mrs Leach was a nurse with the Australian Army who served overseas and has had a long association with Hollywood which commenced during World War II and continues to the present day. From 1943 to 1945, Mrs Leach was on the staff of the then named 110th Australian General Hospital (now Hollywood Private Hospital), as senior sister in charge of the orthopaedic ward, acting also as night superintendent.
As a result of her army nursing and community service work with the Red Cross and other organisations, Mrs Leach received the Florence Nightingale Medal (1983) and the Order of Australia Medal (2000).
Today, Mrs Leach maintains a close relationship with the hospital, having been involved in Hollywood’s Remembrance Day service for more than 10 years.

History of Hollywood Private Hospital
- Hollywood Private Hospital is a modern private hospital which has a proud history dating back to 1941 and World War II.
- Originally built as a 500 bed military hospital, the then-named “110 Australian General Hospital” cared for sick and wounded service men and women.
- In 1947, it became “Repatriation General Hospital, Hollywood” and over the next five decades proudly cared for war veterans, their widows and widowers.
- In 1994, the Commonwealth Government sold the 300 bed hospital to Australian-owned Ramsay Health Care and became Hollywood Private Hospital.
