General Surgery

Hollywood Private Hospital has a strong general surgery team that performs upper-gastrointestinal, thyroid, hernia, liver, gall bladder and colorectal surgeries.

Procedures 

Upper-gastrointestinal procedures for both oesophagus and stomach are performed at Hollywood Private Hospital, including oesophageal hernias, hiatus hernias, both inguinal and ventral hernias and repair surgeries for bariatric patients.

Colorectal surgery can involve tumour removal, low and ultra-low anterior resections and ileostomy and colostomy surgeries.

Bariatric patients also recover on this ward following sleeve gastronomy, lap banding or gastric bypass surgery.

Open and laparoscopic approaches are both used by our surgeons depending on what is appropriate for each patient and their condition.
