Hospital stalwart Peter Mott recognised for contribution to healthcare in WA

Ramsay Health Care State Manager Peter Mott has been recognised for his contribution to healthcare in WA with a ACHSM President’s Award.

Mr Mott was presented with the award at the Australasian College of Health Service Management (ACHSM) Leadership Conference at the Perth Convention & Exhibition Centre on Tuesday, May 24.

The ACHSM President’s Award is awarded to a member who has contributed in some significant way to the broader health industry including leadership; management in public, private, or non-government service delivery; research and/or academia.

ACHSM President, Dr Neale Fong, said the WA Branch Council unanimously voted Mr Mott as the award recipient for his contributions to bettering health care leaders throughout his time in the public and private systems.

Mr Mott has enjoyed a 40-year career in the WA healthcare industry. He was the Chief Executive Officer at Hollywood Private Hospital for nine years and has held leadership positions at hospitals in the public and private sector.

“Peter has supported the College throughout his time at Ramsay Health Care, ensuring that Hollywood were striving for continual improvement amongst its leadership groups,” Dr Fong said.

“Peter was the Vice President of the WA Branch Council for a number of years and is a fierce promoter of the ACHSM's mission of better leadership, healthier communities.”

Mr Mott said the award was unexpected and he felt very humbled to be acknowledged.

Ramsay Health Care Australia Chief Executive Officer, Carmel Monaghan, said Mr Mott has been an influential and highly respected healthcare leader in WA for several decades.

“He is held in the greatest regard by his peers but also the community at large serving on a myriad of organisations including being the Vice President of the Australian Private Hospitals Association for the past two years,” Ms Monaghan said.

“Peter retired from his CEO position at Hollywood Private Hospital recently, after building this hospital into the largest private hospital in Australia and establishing numerous new services including a new private emergency department. 

“He has left a lasting legacy at this hospital and Ramsay looks forward to working with Peter in his position as State Manager for WA.

“Ramsay congratulates him on this very deserving award.”
