Hollywood Private Hospital recently brought some of the world’s leading psychiatrists to Perth for the 3rd Annual Hollywood Private Hospital Psychiatry Master Class.

Hollywood Private Hospital recently brought some of the world’s leading psychiatrists to Perth for the 3rd Annual Hollywood Private Hospital Psychiatry Master Class.

The industry event was held Friday 9 to Saturday 10 March at The University Club, University of Western Australia, and included presentations by Australian and international experts on the topic of mood disorders such as depression and bipolar.

Hollywood Chief Executive Officer, Peter Mott, said “As a leading provider of mental health services to the Western Australian community, Hollywood works to ensure patients across the State have access to the highest quality care and treatment. By supporting this event, we hope to enhance the expertise of Western Australia’s psychiatrists and the care they deliver.”

The event is the only master class for psychiatrists of its kind in Western Australia and allows attendees to benefit from the knowledge of six presenters, including this year’s keynote speaker Professor Guy Goodwin from University of Oxford.  Professor Goodwin is a leading psychiatrist whose interests are in the treatment of bipolar disorder and the application of neuroscience in understanding the neurobiology of mood disorders, with a focus on developing new treatments.

Hollywood Psychiatrist, Dr Mathew Samuel, added “I’m very proud that Hollywood was once again a major sponsor of this event. At The Hollywood Clinic, the hospital’s 70 bed inpatient and day patient mental health facility, we care for more individuals with mood disorders than any other condition. Due to the increasing number of individuals seeking treatment for mood disorders, it’s essential WA’s psychiatrists have the necessary knowledge to provide comprehensive and specialised care specific to patients’ needs.”
