New carpark opens up more options for Hollywood Private Hospital staff

Feb 25, 2022

A new 384-bay staff carpark at Hollywood Private Hospital has opened, providing even more affordable options for nurses and support staff to get to and from work.

The carpark was designed by Silver Thomas Hanley and built by Georgiou Group. It features two levels and 256 undercover bays. There are a further 15 open-air bays surrounding the carpark.

Nurse Hayllie Gilbert said the new carpark cut at least 10 minutes off her daily commute, because she did not need to look for parking.

“It’s so much easier to get to work when you are guaranteed a parking spot,” she said.

“It’s great when you come in for the afternoon shift – it just gives you extra time.”

With more than 2000 staff, Chief Executive Officer Peter Mott said it was important to provide affordable options for workers to commute to and from the hospital.

“The new staff carpark is one of many convenient ways staff can travel to Hollywood,” Mr Mott said.

“For example, we offer incentives for staff to use their car less through the TravelSmart program.

“TravelSmart encourages staff to choose alternative ways to get to work, such as cycling or using public transport where possible.

“Catching the bus is a great option because the route 25 has a stop right outside the hospital on Monash Avenue.

“There is also the new purple CAT bus, which has stops along Monash Avenue and Hampden Road.”

The new staff carpark is part of a $200 million investment in Hollywood by Ramsay Health Care over the past five years.
