Record number of graduates join Hollywood Private Hospital

Mar 02, 2022

Hollywood Private Hospital has welcomed a record number of new nursing and allied health graduates, with 43 new staff joining the team.

Training and Development Manager Anne Green said this year there were 20 more graduates than previous years.

The graduates were onboarded online and then started work across the hospital in specialties such as theatre, surgical and general medical.

Ms Green said the graduates are supported by clinicians eager to share their knowledge and skills within each ward/department.

“A significant feature of this year’s cohort is we have graduate nurses who will have direct entry into mental health,” Ms Green said.

“This is also the first year we have a speech pathology graduate a well as registered and enrolled nurses.”

Hollywood has a long history of supporting graduate nurses - this year is the 44th intake since 1994.

Ramsay Health Care employed Hollywood’s new graduates on a permanent contract, as part of a two-year Fellowship Program.

About 100 enrolled nurses, registered nurses and midwives joined Ramsay Health Care WA hospitals in February 2022.

Across the nation, 539 new graduate nurses started at RHC hospitals, representing a 25 per cent increase on the previous years’ intakes.

Shortages in the clinical workforces is one of the biggest challenges facing hospitals in Australia and around the world.

Ramsay Health Care Australia is committed to investing in its workforce to ensure it is the employer of choice for healthcare staff.
