Bariatric surgery:
As the senior surgeon in Perth Obesity Solutions, Siva offers a range of weight loss surgery options including gastric bypass and revision surgery. He will work with the patient to tailor the surgery most appropriate for their situation. Siva believes in patient empowerment and takes time explain to them the procedures and recovery in detail so that they can make the best decision. He works with a multidisciplinary team including dietitians, nurses, exercise physiologists and psychologists to ensure chances of successful weight loss is maximised
Background & Training:
Dr Siva Sundararajan is a Consultant General Surgeon with a particular focus on bariatric and upper GI surgery . He grew up in Singapore and did his undergraduate training in the prestigious University of Edinburgh Medical School. He completed his general surgical training in Perth. He was awarded the Medtronic Bariatric Fellowship and selected for the Box Hill Hospital Bariatric Fellowship program in Melbourne – the only public hospital in Australia to have a stand-alone bariatric unit. He moved to Belgium to complete his bariatric training under Dr Bruno Dillemans – a world renowned expert in gastric bypass surgery. Siva established Perth Obesity Solutions when he returned to Perth. He is also a military surgeon in the Royal Australian Air Force holding the rank of Squadron Leader.
