Clinical Practice
Dr Tarquinio is a Specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist who is fully committed to full time private practice. He offers services in all aspects of general gastroenterology including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease ((IBD). He offers open access endoscopic services in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and colonoscopy and he welcomes consultation with patients requiring pre-procedural assessment and follow up of endoscopic findings.
Dr Tarquinio continues to practice in Hepatology with his area of expertise being in chronic Hepatitis B and C infection. He is also interested in the assessment of all liver related conditions including unexplained abnormal liver function tests, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, autoimmune liver disease and liver lesions including hepatocellular carcinoma.
He continues to have strong links with the Liver Unit at Royal Perth Hospital and with The Western Australian Liver Transplantation Service.
Background & Training
Dr Lorenzo Tarquinio graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1992 and commenced Gastroenterology and Hepatology training in 1999.
He undertook sub-specialty Hepatology training in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom in 2001. Dr Tarquinio was appointed as a sessional consultant at Royal Perth Hospital and visiting Hepatologist to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital on his return to Perth in 2002.
Despite having relinquished his teaching hospital appointments in 2015, he has continued with medical student teaching through the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle, Medical School.
