Clinical Profile
Dr Peter Lau is a Specialist Physician in Medical Oncology at Hollywood Private Hospital with a main focus on breast cancer. He believes in compassionate, patient centric care with shared decision making, utilising the latest medical evidence. His main fodus include the management of breast cancer, survivorship, immunotherapy, clinical research and trials. Dr Lau also consult at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital for patients with breast cancer and leads a number of clinical trials.
Background & Training
Peter is a medical graduate of the University of Queensland in 2007 and trained at Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital. He then returned home to Perth to complete his advanced training in medical oncology in 2012. Peter was an inaugural recipient of the WA Cancer and Palliative Care and Cancer Research Fellowship in 2014, which encompassed both clinical and laboratory based breast cancer research. Peter was appointed as a medical oncologist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne in 2015 and completed his PhD in immunotherapy.
Clinical Trials & Research
He returned to Perth in 2020 and leads the Breast Cancer Medical Oncology Service at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and is a principal investigator for a number of breast cancer and immunotherapy trials. Peter has over 20 peer review publications in journals such as Cochrane, Clinical Cancer Research and European Journal of Cancer amongst other high impact journals.

Dr Lau is available to provide medical education and patient management plan on a range of Medical oncology issues. His special interests include management of breast cancer, survivorship, immunotherapy, clinical research and trials.
