Dr. Azim Khan is a Specialist Physician in Medical Oncology, focusing on gastrointestinal cancers, melanoma, genitourinary, breast, gynecological, and lung cancers. He serves as a Specialist Physician in Medical Oncology at Northam Regional Hospital, focusing on a diverse range of cancer subtypes. Additionally, Dr. Khan practices as a private medical oncologist at Hollywood Private Hospital, providing comprehensive treatment for all cancer subtypes.
Background & Training:
Azim completed his initial specialist training at Sir Charles Gairdner and Fiona Stanley Hospitals in Perth. He furthered his expertise through a Clinical Research Fellowship awarded by WA Palliative Care Network - WA Health. This fellowship, based at Fiona Stanley Hospital and the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, focused on breast cancer. Currently, he is the recipient of a research grant from the Cancer Trials Unit, focusing on assessing sarcopenia as a surrogate radiological biomarker for the cancer population across all age groups, including immunotherapy and chemotherapy patients.
As a sub-investigator in multiple solid organ malignancy trials at Hollywood Private Hospital, Dr. Khan actively contributes to advancing cancer treatment. Furthermore, he is enthusiastic about developing a novel sub-specialty in geriatric oncology to enhance holistic care and improve survival outcomes for older adults with cancer.
