Mr Dan Fick is a Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon who has a primary focus in several sub-disciplines of orthopaedics including computer navigated trauma, pelvic and acetabular fracture management as well as joint replacements. He enjoys arthroscopic procedures of the hip, shoulder and knee with a focus on evidence-based prehabilitation and rehabilitation.

Clinical Practice

Professor Daniel Fick is a senior Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon based in Perth, Western Australia. Prof Fick is known for his surgical experience and commitment to delivering patient-centred care. Dan works hand-in-hand with his patients to understand their concerns and talk through all possible paths for treatment and recovery. He is involved in every aspect of the treatment plan helping get patients back to the lifestyle they love, as soon as possible.

 

Dan operates across the whole spectrum of orthopaedic surgery – from ligament reconstruction in injured athletes, to hip resurfacing and revision joint surgery for more mature patients. This extensive clinical experience means he can draw on all aspects of orthopaedic surgery to offer the best option to address each patient’s specific needs. With a successful academic career investigating innovation in implant and equipment design, Dan ensures his patients benefit from the most up to date and effective techniques available.

 

Background & Training

Dan graduated with Honours from the University of Western Australia, completing his training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia and later taking a fellowship at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in the United Kingdom. He is an adjunct professor of computer science and engineering at Curtin University. Dan lectures throughout the world and is a recognised senior opinion in complex and challenging cases. His orthopaedic practice is based at Hollywood Private Hospital in Nedlands, Western Australia.

 

In 2015, Dan co-founded the Australian Institute of Robotic Orthopaedics (www.airo.net.au), an independent biotechnology and research organisation that aims to deliver a new standard of patient care, backed by proven science. The Institute’s objective is to unite advanced cutting technology, intelligent digital sensing and robotic assistance to restore an individual’s pre-disease or injury joint function.
