Associate Professor Jon Spencer is an experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and knee surgery, with more than 20 years of consultant experience. He is dedicated to helping patients make informed and confident decisions about their care, providing individualised treatment plans designed to maximise function and long-term outcomes. Jon has established and led highly skilled surgical teams at Hollywood Private Hospital, ensuring safe, efficient and coordinated patient care. In addition to his clinical commitments, he is a passionate educator, actively involved in training and mentoring future surgeons.
Background & Training
Jon completed his medical degree at Guy’s Hospital Medical School, University of London, in 1994. He undertook specialist training through the prestigious Oxford Orthopaedic Training Programme, achieving both FRCS (England) and FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics). He completed advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery and academic research in Oxford before moving to Australia to undertake further subspecialty training in total knee replacement surgery. During this time, he published extensively on computer-navigated techniques and obtained his Australian Fellowship (FRACS Ortho) in 2008. Jon is deeply committed to education and professional leadership. He serves as Chair of the Western Australian Division of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (2024–2028) and previously chaired the WA State Training Committee for Orthopaedic Surgical Trainees (2014–2018). As an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia, he plays an active role in mentoring the next generation of medical professionals.
