Clinical Practice

Mr Lachlan Milne is dedicated to providing patients and GPs with a personalised service aimed at improving patient outcomes in an appropriate time frame. By understanding the complexities of patients’ problems, and the impact it has on their lives, Lachlan can tailor a solution to their needs. By allowing appropriate time for consultations Lachlan is able to provide patients with the information they need to make a decision about their ongoing care.

Lachlan draws on his experience gained on fellowship in Melbourne, London and Switzerland, where he worked with world leading surgeons, to ensure he provides equally excellent care. He works closely with physiotherapists and rehabilitation providers to ensure patients are effectively rehabilitated back to full health with or without surgery. He takes pride in his work with a focus on measuring outcomes to achieve the best results for his patients and to contribute to advances in orthopaedic techniques.

As a twice Australian Olympian - Lachlan understands what is required to make it in elite sport. He has worked extensively with elite surgeons, sports physicians, and physiotherapists. He has the experience and expertise to manage complex hip and knee problems in both elite and recreational athletes.

Background & Training

Lachlan graduated in medicine and surgery from the University of Sydney before moving to Perth to complete his orthopaedic specialist training.

He undertook a year of fellowship training in Melbourne focussed on hip preservation surgery, anterior hip replacement, pelvic trauma and paediatric hip surgery with hip preservation specialist Jit Balakumar. This was followed by six months in London UK with sports knee surgeon, Andy Williams, and three months in Switzerland, where he worked with, among others, the world’s pre-eminent hip preservation surgeon, Professor Reinhold Ganz.

Lachlan's research interests include optimisation of hip replacement implantation and periacetabular osteotomy for the management of hip dysplasia and impingement.  He runs an AIMS accredited fellowship in the management of all hip problems with Dr Tao Shan Lim.
