Clinical Practice
Dr Marcelo Leal is a Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist.who has a focus in paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, colonoscopy and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr Leal is currently employed as a Specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Perth Children’s Hospital. He recently returned home to Perth having completed his subspeciality training at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne where he also held a permanent Specialist position since 2016.
Background & Training
He completed his medical degree at the University of Western Australia and he is now a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) as a specialist Paediatric Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with publications in the field and ongoing active research. He is currently working towards a Masters by Research at the University of Melbourne and completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, in 2015 with Commendation. He is a current member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and accredited to perform paediatric gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
