Dr Subramaniam is a Specialist General Surgeon whose focus include all aspects of melanoma surgery, laparoscopic hernia repairs, thyroid & parathyroid surgery, gastroscopy and colonoscopy

Clinical Practice

Dr Suren Subramaniam is an Australian trained Specialist General Surgeon. His main clinic focus includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery, melanoma surgery, endocrine, gall bladder, and hernia repair. In addition to his practice at Peel Health Campus Dr Subramaniam has recently started his practice at Hollywood Private Hospital and welcomes new referrals.

Background & Training

Following his initial medical degree Suren completed his general surgery training in various teaching hospitals in Perth which included Royal Perth, Sir Charles Gardner and Fremantle Hospitals through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

He also has a focus on surgical oncology & head and neck surgery which led to Suren completed 3 more years of post-fellowship training in NSW and Victoria. He spent a year in the head and neck surgical oncology unit at Wollongong Hospital, NSW and a further year at endocrine surgery units at Royal North Shore Hospital & Hornsby Ku Ring Gai Hospital , Mater Private Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital. His surgerical oncology training was at Peter MacCallam Cancer Centre, Melbourne where he gained valuable experience in the multidisciplinary management of melanoma and soft tissue sarcomas and breast cancer patients. 

Dr Suren is on the clinical panel of a state-wide melanoma service through Western Australian Kirkbride Melanoma Advisory Service (WAKMAS) in Perth which offers care for advanced melanoma patients. He is also a certified endoscopist and supervisor of endoscopy training performing adult gastroenterology and colonoscopy procedures, accredited to the high standards of The Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

Teaching and Research

He is actively involved in medical student teaching and has involved himself in research in surgery throughout his career culminating with presenting back to his peers. He has also led multinational studies and has published his work in reputed surgical journals.
